AMC+GMC Ladies Meet, August 2026
Attendee: Angela Dale
This August we tried something new, a collaboration with the Avon Mountaineering Club ladies. The AMC and GMC had a weekend at the GMC Hut, with the expectation to have adventurous days out!
I attended this meet and had a thoroughly good time, albeit not able to extend my adventurous days to two days because I was exhausted after one day! On the Saturday I buddied up with the AMC ladies and headed to Clogwyn y Ddysgl. Pairing off, my partner and I climbed the Parson's Nose and then carried on the grade 3 scramble, Clogwyn y Person Arete, to keep on the ridge up to Crib y Ddysgl.

Note to self: don't decide to wear your climbing helmet (rather than attach it to your rucksack) and maybe hide the climbing rope- we bumped into a number of novices asking questions about the ridge and Snowdon as we scrambled across Crib Goch, we even escorted two guys back off the ridge before we headed down the north ridge and descended to the CC Hut in the Llanberis Pass where we had started that morning.

In the evening the AMC and GMC ate a Mexican themed dinner together, rounded by a cracking crumble made by me.
Sunday, I attempted to walk up Elidir Fawr; but failed due to sore muscles and the heat. The AMC ladies headed to the slate quarries to do some climbing before heading home.
