Cefn Goch Hut Meet February 2026

Meet Co-ordinator: Zak Page

13 members in attendance.

Saturday was two teams:

  • First bunch did the southern Carneddau circuit, with snow on the ground and sun in the sky.

  • Second team did the Snowdon horseshoe. Snow; but no crampons needed (although they might have helped in places). Views in the morning and then it clouded over for most of the day. Second team stopped at the pub, The Heights, to watch the England V Scotland game and get some dinner, both of which were reported as excellent by the  only Scottish guy in attendance on the hut meet. The food at The Heights is very much recommend!

Sunday was a bit grey and members splintered off to do various activities to make the best of the worst weather wise. In between storms a few members went for a swim in Llyn Padarn (Llanberis) whilst the few others took on lifeguard duties. Then coffee and cake.

A few members stopped off at the Climbing Hut (indoor climbing centre) in Shrewsbury on their way home.

A couple of members stopped off in Llangollen on their way home and walked the other side of the river, 7.2 miles going past Castell Dinas Bran. They successfully managed to avoid the rain.

Two members went to check out Aber Falls which was in full flow after the rains and then they had a wander round the slate quarries. They also stayed Monday and did some hut maintenance and shopping in Betws-y-Coed
